Broadcast live HDMI and HD/SD-SDI video as Cable TV and IPTV channels over existing coaxial cabling to an unlimited number of televisions in full HD. Ideal for cable TV companies, this modulator family from Thor Broadcast offers more applications and flexibility than previous models. It features five full RF carrier outputs for channel generation from ASI input content, with encoding options in MPEG-2 or H.264 for four clear video streams up to 1080p60.

The bitrate is adjustable from 1.5 to 19 Mbps, and a variety of audio codecs are available, including MPEG-2 AAC, MPEG-4 AAC, and licensed Dolby AC/3. Audio sources are embedded HDMI and SDI, with options for digital audio inputs to pass through 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound in Dolby format. Two mirrored ASI outputs provide broadcasters with flexibility in content distribution.

Programs input via ASI can be multiplexed and remapped to the ASI output, functioning as an ASI multiplexer. The system supports IPTV with all four encoded programs mapped to unique IP address outputs and ports in UDP or RTP format. The IP output can strip null packets to reduce network bandwidth or maintain constant bit rate (CBR) packet stuffing. Channels can be independently configured for multicast or unicast outputs.

Closed captioning is supported via a dedicated analog 608 CC port with an RCA connector, adhering to industry standards for line 21 captioning systems. The system accommodates any 720 or 1080 line standard video signal in HDMI or Component YPbPr format for each of the four channels. Like other professional Thor modulator chassis, this system can be configured with firmware for QAM, DVB-C, DVB-T, or ATSC channel format output.
